Si tratta di un duello attuato sempre da retiarii e contraretiarii-secutores, nel quale i primi combattono su una piccola torre dotata di rampe (pons), sulle quali il contrarete cerca di salire. Ispirato probabilmente ad eventi militari greco-macedoni, dove gli assediati si difendevano con reti e tridenti, il duello dei pontarii prevede anche il lancio di pietre da parte dei retiarii. Talvolta i secutores sono costretti a salire sulle rampe affrontando il tridente del retiarius, perché forzati dall’aggrassione di belve feroci come orsi o felini.
It deals of a duel effected always by retiarii and contraretiarii-secutores, in which the first ones fight on a small tower endowed with ramps (pons), on which the contrarete tries to climb. Probably inspired to Greek-Macedonian military events, where besieges defended himself with nets and tridents, the duel of the pontariis also foresees the throwing of stones from the retiarius. Sometimes the secutores are forced to climb on the ramps against the trident of the retiarius, because forced by the aggression of fierce beasts as bears or feline.
